Ang Sun, Ph.D. Wins Prize for ‘Outstanding Research’

Dr. Ang Sun, who studied for six years for his Ph.D. under the guidance of Antonio Giordano, M.D., Ph.D., the Founder and President of the Sbarro Health Research Organization, has been awarded the  2009 Award for Outstanding Research by a Graduate Student. The award, which is given by Temple University’s College of Science and Technology,  will be presented on November 19th at the Third Annual CST Distinguished Faculty and Students Awards Recognition and Dinner.

 

Dr. Sun’s primary research focused on studying different reageants for their anti-cancer functions as well as the mechanisms behind them. Using the knowledge obtained from the studies, Sun designed new reagents, which might have more potent anti-cancer functions.

 

During the course of his studies, Sun  published three peer-reviewed papers. Another three peer reviewed papers based on his research are in preparation. Along with this award, he has won a travel award from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories, travel award from the College of Science and Technology to participate in an international cell conference, and the Berardi Foundation Award in Cancer Research in 2009.
