The Sbarro Health Research Organization, a nonprofit research facility located at Temple University, dedicated a new state-of-the-art biotechnology research center on October 27th.. SHRO has been ranked as one of the top three international laboratories based on number of publications as ranked by the Cell Cycle Registry.

Antonio Giordano, president and founder of SHRO, praised the collaboration that funded the $3 million center, saying that the efforts and teamwork made a worthwhile vision possible.

“In life, what really counts is when people get together and work on something that’s really important,” he said.

In remarks to a crowd of well-wishers, Temple University President Ann Weaver Hart called the new center an “exceptional example of successful international, government, university, and non-profit collaboration.” She noted the lab’s researchers are also working at translating their research into new treatments for cancer and other diseases.

“I’m proud to play a role in launching this research project,” Smith said. “Antonio’s vision is a step above others, moving into the practical world. It’s not just about Temple, Philly, or Pennsylvania, but about improving research.”

“Good money from the state of PA is supporting the best research,” said

Civera.
