Antonio Giordano, M.D. Ph.D., Director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine, Director of the Center for Biotechnology at Temple University and “Chiara Fama” Professor in the Department of Human Pathology at the University of Siena in Siena, Italy, will receive the  Premio Casentino  in Medicine on June 14th. Established in the 1940’s, the award – organized by the Center Fonte Aretusa in the city of Poppi (Tuscany) – honors significant contributions in literature, journalism, economics, and medicine.

Also in June, Dr. Giordano will receive the  GOIM award, Maestri dell`Oncologia (Master of Oncology) in Catania (Sicily). The GOIM (Oncology Group of South Italy) is a non-profit association founded in 1985 which aims to develop and support scientific research in southern Italy by organizing meetings, developing scientific networks and promoting stable structures for scientific studies.  GOIM is  also one of the largest oncology networks for clinical  trial centers. At the meeting, Dr. Giordano will deliver a lecture entitled: Geni e Cancro tra mito e realta` (Genes and Cancer: Between  Myth and Reality).
